Ordering Options

Based on the type of insurance your patients have, there are several ways you can make SYNVISC® available to your patients using your SYNVISC account.

Ordering SYNVISC for privately insured patients

  • Call Genzyme directly—call 1-888-3-SYNVISC (1-888-379-6847) Option #1, M–F, 8am–8pm (EST) to place an order for your office or download our SYNVISC Order Form (PDF, 67K) and fax your order to 1-800-698-8979.
  • Contact your wholesaler—place an order for your office through your wholesale supply house.
  • Order through a Specialty Pharmacy—order SYNVISC for specific patients through a pharmacy that coordinates all payments with the insurer. Learn more about the Specialty Pharmacy program and download forms.

Ordering SYNVISC for Medicare patients
For Medicare-eligible patients, you must purchase and stock SYNVISC in your office or the patient will be responsible for the full product price.

  • Call Genzyme directly—call 1-888-3-SYNVISC (1-888-379-6847) Option #1, M–F, 8am–8pm (EST) to place an order for your office or download our SYNVISC Order Form (PDF, 67K) and fax your order to 1-800-698-8979.
  • Contact your wholesaler—place an order for your office through your wholesale supply house.
  • Order through the Medicare Competitive Acquisition Program (CAP) vendor, BioScrip—for physician practices enrolled in the Medicare Part B CAP, BioScrip handles all billing and patient co-pays. CAP physicians order SYNVISC directly from their BioScrip vendor, who bills Medicare. Physicians continue to bill and collect reimbursement for the administration of SYNVISC. Important Safety Information

SYNVISC® (hylan G-F 20) is indicated for the treatment of pain in osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee in patients who have failed to respond adequately to conservative nonpharmacologic therapy and simple analgesics, e.g., acetaminophen. In clinical trials, the most commonly reported adverse events were transient local pain, swelling, and/or effusion in the injected knee. In some cases, these symptoms have been extensive. Other side effects such as rash have been reported rarely.

SYNVISC is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to hyaluronan products or patients with infections in or around the knee. Use caution when using SYNVISC in patients allergic to avian proteins, feathers, or egg products; who have evidence of venous or lymphatic stasis in the leg to be treated; or who have severe inflammation in the knee joint to be treated. Patients should be advised to avoid strenuous or prolonged weight-bearing activities after treatment. Strict adherence to aseptic technique must be followed to avoid joint infection. The safety and effectiveness of SYNVISC in children and in pregnant or lactating women have not been established. It is unknown whether SYNVISC is excreted in human milk.
